These TiAlN coatings are universally suitable for machining
most common steels. The optional finishing additional smoothness to the adds coatings which are already smooth and
free of droplets. From thin to thick, with coating thicknesses from 1.5 to 10
μm, all kinds of cutting tools can be optimized to their specific applications.

The high content of aluminum results in high hardness. The
smooth and droplet free surface and the very good adhesion of the coating make
HYPERLOX® perfect for end mills, the Plus versions also feature greater wear
volumes to increase tool life and productivity. HYPERLOX® has additionally
proved to solve heat checking issues in high pressure die casting, the coating
thicknesses, applied in the range of 3 to 6 μm, protect the substrate from the
negative influences in the cutting process because of high temperatures.

Supertin® is normally applied to steels, hardened steels,
and aluminum materials at 425°C - 450°C where high wear resistance and
lubricity is needed. The unique properties of Addlife Supertin® coating make it
ideally suited for applications that use expensive tooling such as injection
molding, sawing, tapping and forming. This coating is also used in numerous
medical (implants, surgical instruments, etc.)

HSN2 coating is effective in wet cutting of <45 HRC
material and dry cutting of >45 HRC material up to 65 HRC. This coating has
found wide use in the die & mould, and aerospace industry. The silicon
content forms a highly resistive barrier to thermal diffusion, this preventing
oxidative and diffusion wear at higher cutting temperatures.
